Bangkok Bombings

Possibly eight bombs were detonated in public places prior to the New Years Celebrations in Bangkok. At least 2 killed and as many as 30 injured. No party has yet claimed responsiblity.

Bombs exploded at Khao San Road, the Central World shopping center, and Pratunam Pier. Khao San road is a backpacker hang out with a large concentration of foreigners. Central World is where the city's largest celebration is normally held. All official celebrations were cancelled.

Another bomb was found and desposed of at Lumpini Night Bazaar.
