Bro. Krisda Arunvongse, R.I.P.

Brethren all,

I have some very sad news.  Our dear Brother Krisda passed to the Grand Lodge Above.

From the Bangkok Post:
Krisda was honoured as a national artist in the visual arts in the field of contemporary architecture in 2007.
He served as Bangkok governor from 1992 to 1996 but is best remembered for his work in architecture.
His work included the new Suan Amphon building, the Central department stores at Chidlom and Silom, and the Thai Airways International head office on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road.

Krisda was born in Bangkok on Jan 9, 1932. He graduated with a master's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and was awarded a scholarship from the French government to study architecture at Ecole des Beaux-Arts.

He was a lecturer with the faculty of architecture at Chulalongkorn University for more than 30 years.
Additionally, Bro. Krisda was the architect for the Lodge St John Masonic Hall, a member of several lodges and appendant bodies and a member of the District Grand Lodge of the Middle East (Scottish Constitution).

Personally speaking, Bro. Krisda was a warm and loving person who always had time to help a younger brother.  Every time I saw him, he always greeted me like a long lost friend.  His Christmas cards featuring a picture of him on his motorcycle or in his airplane always brightened my family's holiday.  He will be missed.
