Karachi's Freemasons

There's an interesting article translated on Dawn.com outlining the brief and tragic history of Freemasonry in Pakistan.  The article by Akhtar Balouch tells of his discovery of the Masonic Temple in Karachi and his brief tour through it.  There are several photos showing what must have once been a majestic temple filled with fellowship, cigar smoking and back slapping.  It is a beautiful building.

The article also provides a copy of the newspaper article from 1973 when the temple was closed by the military police.  Freemasonry was then outlawed officially nationwide ten years later by the military dictatorship.

The end of the article devolves slightly into Dan Brown conspiracy theory, but overall it's a good read.

English Storm Pattaya

Yes, it's been awhile since I've posted, but not much has been newsworthy...until now.

Lodges in Pattaya have now doubled thanks to the recent consecration of Trinity Lodge, No 9891 EC.  UGLE consecrated the lodge on March 15th, 2014.  According to their history,

"It was formed by local brethren to provide an English Constitution on the eastern seaboard of Thailand."
Well, you don't get much more specific than that!  We wish the brethren of Trinity much happiness and success.  Congratulations!
